Why Blogs Are the Future for 2014 and How to Prepare Your Blog for the New Year

Why Blogs Are the Future for 2014 and How to Prepare Your Blog for the New Year

“As the calendar inches ever closer toward the new year, there’s never been a better time to talk about blogging. Everywhere you go these days, someone’s saying something about how many blogs there are and how the blog world is over-saturated. Could these ideas actually be true? Are blogs over, or is 2014 a good time to start your own? What will 2014 hold for blogs—how will things change, and how will they stay the same? If you already blog, how can you prepare your blog for the next season?

To help answer those questions, let’s look at what the experts are saying about why blogs do matter—along with strategies for making the most of your blogging efforts.

Blogs Still Matter

Despite what you may have heard, blogs are not done yet. “The need for an online presence has never been stronger,” says Jayson DeMers at Search Engine Watch. “[But] the landscape has never been more competitive.” Whether you’re thinking about improving your business’s search results or looking to become an authority in a specific niche, blogs are powerful, especially when you know how to use them. Below, consider what experts are saying:

  • “Extremely Relevant.” In February 2013, Clayton Lainsbury wrote at the content marketing site Crowd Content Resources that “intelligent marketers still know that blogging is extremely relevant if you apply it properly in a social and mobile driven world.” His point is that the world is online—and blogging gives you a way to reach it.
  • “There’s No Better Way.”In an April 2013 blog post at Social Media Today entitled “Blogging is More Important Today than Ever Before,” author Nicole Beachum said, “There is not a better way to add relevant content to your website on a regular basis than to utilize a blog.” Citing reasons like search engine optimization and keeping up with the competition, Beachum goes so far as to say hiring a professional is a savvy step.
  • “Effective Marketing Strategy.”According to Content Marketing Institute’s 2014 Report for B2B content marketers, 62% of marketers still see blogging as an effective content strategy.
  • “A Public Record.”There are intangible benefits to blogging, which is something personal bloggers like Lisa Endlich understand well. For individuals as well as businesses, blogging offers a place to chronicle your story and connect with like minds.

How to Blog Strategically in 2014

Based on a Google Talk given in October at PubCon 2013, staying ahead in the blog world is simply a matter of knowing what to expect. With that in mind, here are some tips for making the most of your blogging efforts, at least in terms of search results, next year:

  • Focus on Quality: Search engine algorithms are always changing, but one bottom-line principle stays the same: High quality content works. Rather than worrying about how to trick the search giants, focus on publishing the highest quality content you can.
  • Benefit Your Reader: If you aren’t answering the #1 reader question of “Why should I care?” you’re sabotaging your own blogging efforts. Look at your blog right now—what does it offer? What do your readers gain? Why should they come back? Make those answers crystal clear in order to prepare your blog for the new year.
  • Blog Like You Talk: As voice searching grows in popularity, blogs that are written the way people talk may rank higher.
  • Niche = Authority: The more specific and focused your blog topic, the better your chances of becoming an authority in your field. Rather than blogging about food, for example, blog about gluten-free, dairy-free recipes. Rather than blogging about lifestyle, blog about being a stay-at-home dad of twins in New York City. Look for ways to specialize, and you become more valuable.
  • Make the Most of Social Media: Social profiles are not only good for building relationships, but also they help you increase online authority. Search engines look at social activity—how often your blog is mentioned, linked to, etc.—to determine ranks.

Know Your Goals: Gone are the days when all you hope for with a blog is a reader. Moving forward, bloggers will need to determine their exact goals (Conversions? Subscribers? New leads?) to quantify success.
Your Thoughts

Will you or your business be blogging in 2014? What changes are you making to prepare for the new year? What changes do you think are important?”

2014 Reboot: Make Money From Your Blog This Year

2014 Reboot: Make Money From Your Blog This Year

2014 Reboot: Make Money From Your Blog This Year

“We are mining ProBlogger content this week for super-useful information to kick-start your blogging year with gusto. Today we focus on that old chestnut – is it REALLY possible to earn some cash doing what we love? Well the answer is “yes, but”. So if 2014 is the year you finally knuckle down and make it happen – Darren’s got just the post for you.

This post “Is it Really Possible to Make Money Blogging? [7 Things I know about Making Money Blogging] first appeared in November 2012.

Every now and again I am pulled aside at a conference or am emailed and/or tweeted by someone wanting to get the “real” scoop on whether it is possible to make money blogging.

  • Is it really possible to make a living from blogging?
  • Is it just a small number of people making money from blogging?
  • Is it only really possible to make money blogging if you write about the topic of making money blogging
  • I completely understand the questions and would probably want to add one more:

  • If it is really possible to make money blogging, how likely is it that you’ll succeed?
  • I’ve written many times here on ProBlogger about this in the hope of giving a realistic picture of the topic, but I think it is worth touching on again because there is a lot of misinformation out there right now.

On one hand, we see hype on the topic. Periodically someone will claim to be able to make millions from blogging quickly. These claims are usually accompanied with the release of a product or service (i.e. they are marketing spin).

On the other hand, I periodically see people writing about how it is impossible to make money blogging (or that anyone claiming to be full time is either a scammer, a liar, or is selling something on the topic of making money online).

The reality is somewhere between these two extremes.

7 Things I know about making money from blogging

    1. It is possible

I’ve been blogging for just under ten years and for nine of those I’ve been making money blogging. It started out as just a few dollars a day but in time it gradually grew to becoming the equivalent of a part-time job, then a full-time job, and more recently into a business that employs others.

I used to talk about the specific levels of my earnings when I started ProBlogger but felt increasingly uncomfortable about doing so (it felt a little voyeuristic and a little like a big-headed boasting exercise and I didn’t really see the point in continuing to do it)— but my income has continued to grow each year since I began.

On some levels I was at the right place at the right time—I got into blogging early (in 2002 … although I felt I was late to it at the time) and have been fortunate enough to have started blogs at opportune times on the topics I write about.

However I know of quite a few other bloggers who make a living from blogging, many of whom have not been blogging anywhere near as long as I have.

For some it is a hobby that keeps them in coffee; for others it is the equivalent of a part time job/supplementing other income from “real jobs” or helping their family out as they attend to other commitments (raising a family). For others it is a full-time thing.

I’ll give you some examples below.

    2. There is no single way to monetize blogs

Recently at our Melbourne ProBlogger event I featured numerous Australian bloggers in our speaker lineup who fit somewhere in the part-time to full-time spectrum. They included:

    Nicole Avery (Parenting/Organization Blog)

    Jules Clancy (Food Blog)
    Nikki Parkinson (Fashion Blog)
    Mrs Woog (‘Life’ Blog)
    Gavin Aung Than (Cartoon Blog)
    Cintia Gonzalez (Craft Blog)
    Christina Butcher (Hair Blog)
Caz and Craig Makepeace (Travel Blog)
    Nathalie Brown (Child Behaviour Blog)

The year before, we had others, including:

    Lucy Feagins (Design Blog)
    Emma Merkas (Dating Blog)
    Chris Hunter (Motorbike Blog)
    Phoebe Montague (Fashion Blog)

Most of these bloggers are full-time (or well on the way to being full-time bloggers). They come from a wide array of niches and all monetize quite differently—doing everything from selling advertising, to having membership areas, to selling ebooks, to running affiliate promotions, to promoting their offline businesses, to selling themselves as speakers, to having book deals, and so on. Many have a combination of different income streams.

They are all also Australian, and are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what is happening here in Australia—the same thing is being replicated around the globe.

There are many ways to monetize a blog. To give you a quick sense of the many methods check out this “money map” I created a year or so back, which outlines just some that I brainstormed (click to enlarge).

    Ways to Make Money Blogging.png

I also recorded this free hour-and-twenty-minute webinar giving an introduction to the topic.

    3. There are no formulas

From time to time, people have released products that claim to be formulas for success when it comes to making money online. They outline steps to follow to “guarantee” you’ll make money.

In my experience there is no formula.

Each full-time blogger I’ve met in the last ten years has forged their own path and has a unique story to tell. They have often acted on hunches and made surprising discoveries along the way.

There are certainly similarities in many of the stories but each blogger has their own personality and style, each one is reaching a different audience, and each niche tends to monetize differently.

The key lesson is to be aware of what others are doing and to learn what you can from each other, but to also be willing to forge your own path as well!

    4. Many niches monetize

One common critique of the topic of monetizing of blogs is that the only people making money from blogging are the ones writing about how to make money blogging.

    This is simply not true.

In the above list of speakers from our Melbourne event you’ll notice I included topic/niche of each blogger. None sell products teaching others to make money blogging—all are on blogging on “normal,” every-day topics.

My own experience of having a blog about blogging (ProBlogger) and a blog about Photography is that it is my photography blog that is by far the most profitable blog (I’d estimate it’s ten times more profitable).

I’ve interviewed numerous full-time bloggers of late in a webinar series including:

    Sarah Wilson
    Tsh Oxenreider
    Ana White

Interestingly, none of them make money by teaching others to make money online. Sarah largely blogs about health and wellbeing, Tsh blogs about simple living, and Ana blogs about woodwork.

    5. Most bloggers don’t make a full-time living from blogging

Every time I’ve surveyed readers of ProBlogger about their earnings, we’ve seen that those making money from blogging are in the minority.

In a recent survey of 1500 ProBlogger readers we asked about their monthly earnings. What you’re seeing below is the spread of earnings from readers who are attempting to make money blogging (note: not all ProBlogger readers attempt to make money, so not all are included in these results).

2014 Reboot: Make Money From Your Blog This Year

Keep in mind that ProBlogger readers are generally newish bloggers—about half of those who took this survey had been blogging for less than two years.

So of those trying to make money blogging, 10% don’t make anything and 28% are making less than 30 cents per day. A total of 63% make less than $3.50 per day.

Let’s be clear—most bloggers who are attempting to make money are not making a living from blogging.
Having said that, of the 1508 bloggers surveyed 65 (4%) are making over $10,000 per month (over six figures per year) and a further 9% were doing over $1000 per month (which is at least a part-time level of income).

My feeling, having been attending blogging conferences for six or so years now, is that the number of full-time bloggers is on the rise, and there are actually quite a few more people now at least making the equivalent of a couple of days’ work a week in income from their blogs.

However, most bloggers don’t make much.

    6. It takes time to build

When I dig down into the stats from the survey on income levels above, and do some analysis of those who are in the top income bracket, it is fascinating to look at how long they’ve been blogging.

85% of those in that top income bracket have been blogging for four years or more. Almost all of the others had been blogging for three or four years.

This certainly was my own experience. I blogged for a year without making money and once I started monetizing it was around two years of gradual increases before I approached a full-time income level. It would have been four years before I joined that top bracket of income (over $10,000 per month).

Blogging for money is not a get-rich-quick thing. It takes time to build an audience, to build a brand, and to build trust and a good reputation.

And of course even with four or five years of blogging behind you, there’s no guarantee of a decent income.

    7. It takes a lot of work

Longevity is not the only key to a profitable blog. The other common factor that I’ve noticed in most full-time bloggers is that they are people of action.

Passivity and blogging don’t tend to go hand in hand.

Blogging as “passive income stream” is another theme that we hear in many make-money-blogging products, however it is far from my own experience.

I’ve worked harder on my business over the last ten years than I’ve worked on anything in my life before this. It is often fun and gives me energy, but it takes considerable work to create content on a daily basis, to keep abreast of what’s going on in the community, to monitor the business side of things, to create products to sell, to build an audience, and so on.

The key is to build blogs that matter to people, that are original, interesting, and helpful. But this doesn’t just happen—it takes a lot of work.

    Conclusions

Yes, it is possible to make money blogging. There is an ever-increasing number of people making money from blogging at a part-time to full-time level —however they are still in the minority.

Those who do make a living from blogging come from a wide range of niches, however one of the most common factors between them is that they’ve been at it for a long while.

How long have you been blogging? Are you looking to make money from it—and have you already? Share your experiences with us in the comments.”

How to Get Started with Your First Blog

How to Get Started with Your First Blog

“If you are still on the sidelines have haven’t gotten started with your first blog yet, there is no better time than now. In this post I am going to show you how dead simple it is to get started.

A blog of your own can be used for anything, such as blogging about hobbies, sports, being an online journal, a fun way to connect with friends, spread awareness about your organization or business, or even starting an online business or ecommerce site.

First off, you have a couple of options when it comes to blogging and how you want to run your site.

The best way is to get setup with your own domain name, hosting and installing wordpress on your server. This might seem complicated to another just starting out, but it’s fairly simple. I can actually do this for you if you are interested.

Here are the benefits to getting your own site/domain/hosting.

    *Full customization
*You own all of your content
*Having a fancy and direct domain name
    *Unlimited scalability for your blog
*Powerful servers to handle your traffic
*Not held accountable under other company terms

If you don’t want to spend any money on a blog, you can also set one up for free using WordPress or Blogger. The benefits to using free services such as these two are:

    *Extremely easy to setup
    *No monthly costs
*Easy access to one click themes and plugins
    *Powerful networks running your site

While both have their benefits, each come with their own problems as well.

Personally I would go with the domain/hosting/wordpress setup as this will give you a lot more options and will allow you to scale over time. The costs for this are roughly $10 a year for a domain name and $10 a month for hosting. WordPress is free to download and install”

Global Domains International, Inc. is the worldwide domain name registry for all .ws (Dot WS) domain names. Our product is an incredible $10 per month package that includes your own domain name, hosting accounts, and up to ten email accounts, plus an easy-to-use online web site builder that will allow you to get a professional looking web site on the web as quickly as possible. And the best thing is, you can try out everything we have to offer, starting today, for FREE.

Top SEO “Services” That Are Actually Spam

You could spend a few years of your life sorting through all of the blogs, whitepapers, and videos online offering advice on search engine optimization. Yet, so many users get convinced that certain SEO strategies are worth their time and money when these companies are really just touting spam services hidden behind smoke and mirrors.

Level One Network - Top SEO Services That Are Actually Spam

For SEO specialists like myself (I never like to use the word expert, because Google is constantly changing), these spam services put a bad taste in people’s mouth about the industry.

Specialists do educate on what SEO should be and how it is constantly evolving to a focus on social media and content marketing, but it is still easy to get trapped by outdated methods when you have someone speak to you in technical terms that are hard to understand.

Don’t fall for these SEO services that are actually spam:

    Excessive, Behind-the-Scenes Link Building

Due to the changes in Google, content creators tend to move in one extreme or the other in terms of link building. Link-building can help you, but it has to be in moderation. Think of links as the paths that both users and the search engine will travel to find your content.

If you outsource this, be aware of the types of link building done outside of content such as directory link building. It should seem natural and not done all at once with a flip of a switch. If you’re concerned, ask how many directories your site is being added to each month and ask to have the Page Rank pulled for each of those sites. No link building at all (remember, social shares are link building) doesn’t allow Google to connect the dots as quickly to what your website is about. It is still a robot, after all. But you have to be smart about it.

Landing Pages for the Sake of Content

Now that you’ve sprinkled in a few links here and a few links there, you’re doing SEO, right? Not really. Circle back to the previous mention that SEO is about user and the content. This means that a link should be relevant and the page the user lands on should also be relevant. If you link on the phrase “iPhone case” it should land on a page about iPhone cases. That is how Google begins to connect all of your content and ranks it in search for a particular phrase.

Focus on strengthening the landing pages you have now, instead of adding 100 new pages every month, and make them relevant through quality content and natural link building. If you outsource this, the vendor should be more concerned with unique content that engages users rather than a report stating how many pages of content was added to the site in a given month. Beware of any company focusing on quantity instead of quality.

Also, unique and relevant content means it was written for your brand, not repurposed content from elsewhere. That type of service should be a supplement to your content strategy, not your only means of content building. Which brings us to…

    Cheap Content

I’ve had many bosses, clients, and co-workers who loved the idea of cheap content. Every time someone forwards me an email that talks about x amount of words for x cents, I furiously press the delete button and then have to talk a walk around the building to cool off. Content isn’t cheap and no, not everyone can write great content. Look up how much a seasoned freelance blogger charges for a blog post and set that as your new standard for content. It’s not $10.

When outsourcing content, read everything! Many times I’ve sent content to a client for review and it was never even reviewed by them. If you’re going to outsource content, ask for writing samples from the specific writer who will be creating content for you, and read everything before it goes live. Set your standards not only by price but by quality.

    Someone Else Taking Complete Control

“We’ll build you that blog, create those videos, and completely run your social networks!”

“…but if you leave us they all come down.”

Anything built on your dime should be yours. In some cases, it is industry standard for a “secret sauce” to be proprietary information (such as with paid advertising), so always read your contract carefully with any type of vendor to see what you own at the end of its terms. This goes for agreements even outside of SEO companies – when was the last time you read the terms for Instagram or Facebook posts? Stay in control of your content and understand what is yours, what is for the public to use, and what is owned by a third party vendor you just hired.

    Reports That Don’t Make Sense

Many times when a client would come on board, they would send me their SEO reports or they would send over emails from a salesperson from another company. I’ve seen quite a few examples of great reports and not so great reports. The not so great report never makes much sense.

“Congratulations, client, you are ranking number 1 for a search time that we made up to make the ranking results look fantastic!”

Reports should be focused on building awareness within your target market, and that takes time. Confused? Send it to an unbiased third party to review.

Hopefully, highlighting these common “spam” services sheds some light on SEO strategies that make sense for your business and for yourself. Listen to your gut above all, you know what is right for your brand better than any “guru” out there!

Looking to do more? Stay on top of these tips and tricks each week!

Level One Network - The Next Level Of Online Marketing

Level One Network – The Next Level Of Online Marketing

Whether your a blogger, looking to become a blogger or simply want to write about and boost your business. This Level One Network review should help you decide if it is indeed for you. I have been with Level One Network for a little while now and I will be sharing my good and bad first hand experiences with the system as a newbie to the blogging world. Currently I am using Level One Network to promote and drive traffic to a completely separate business and product I am involved in. By following the easy step by step video training that Level One Network’s developer has provided. I have achieved the greatest success when it comes to getting exposure and I have just gotten started.

Level One Network is a new, already made Blogging website that you can just sign in and start blogging from. I find the system to be truly one of a kind when it comes to blogging networks. Dan Miller, the creator and founder of Level One Network has made this system for you and I to be able to have a leveled playing ground when it comes to promoting our business or product and getting exposure. In this review we will go over some key points surrounding Level One Network so you can make that sound decision on if it’s right for you and/or your business, but first I want to go over what actual brought me searching for another network prior to making the best decision my money has ever made.

    Level One Network

I had recently gotten started with blogging online when I joined Empower Network, just 3 weeks before joining Level One Network. Now I’m not gonna bad mouth Empower Network and yes I still use it today, however I am not a affiliate and I do not actively promote it in anyway, shape form or fashion. Never have, and I seriously doubt if I ever will now that I have found a better foundation with Level One Network. It’s not that it’s not a good Blogging Website to use, I just personally found it to be difficult to use because of the lack of training the most and even more difficult to get the results I was looking for because of it. The training was all talk, literally! Not even a runner up for the best blog sites in my opinion. You see, when you buy something, the main thing you want it to do is exactly what it says it will do. I mean, who buys a car and becomes ok with it if it’s not running the way it is suppose to be running? That’s what getting Empower Network was to me. I just didn’t find any information on the lower end that could help me or that would influence me to purchase anything else they had to offer. That’s like buying a car and quickly taking it to a mechanic to get it running. I don’t know about you but when I buy a car, I want it to be ready to do what I paid for it to do. Even if it takes a little work from me in learning how to operate it. And that is just what Level One Network is doing for me…it simply works!

    Level ONe Network Blogging System

With the videos I watched on Empower Network all I got was talk, talk and more talk. The Dave’s seem to be talking me into just buying more of their stuff when they had not really taught me how to handle what I had just paid for. Now if your a seasoned vet and you already know this stuff then that may be fine and dandy but what about the new guy? What about the newbie that wants to get started blogging for money? You’ll find yourself stuck like Chuck in my opinion with Empower Network. Again, Empower Network is great and I know I seem like I’m bashing it but all I’m saying is that it didn’t work for me. What seems like bashing is really the disappointment I feel. I still however use Empower Network to help boost other things I am doing in my business but I doubt it be for very long. I think most people stick with it because it has a high Alexa ranking but what good is that doing for you and your business when you can’t be found?

I find it fascinating that with Level One Network you get main page exposure. That’s right, every time you blog you get main page exposure on Level One Network’s main home page. That is simply amazing. Your not hiding behind the owner’s main page. Everyone on the Network shares in the same exposure. Take a look at the main page and I’m sure you’ll agree that no other system gives you this. Unlike my experience with Empower Network, Level One Network has all the training that makes me feel like a newbie King. Dan Miller actually takes the time and go over everything step by step to where my grandmother could understand how to use this system. But, of course I don’t think it’s her thing, lol.

But you really want to know about Level One Network and how to make money blogging still, right? So let’s get back to it. I’m gonna break it all down with what I know so far and keep in mind I’m not even HALF way through all the training that Dan has set-up. That is how powerful Level One Network is. No hype, no fluff, just pure results. Click Here

Now I give props where props are do and I am honest about what I say about this system however I can tell you that the one thing I didn’t like that could be a little better is the landing pages. That being said, the developer is making more that will be revealed shortly, however that does not take away from it’s power as a network.

    Inclusion In Our National Ads.
The developer of Level One Network has a national ad program helping each affiliate receive traffic and referrals right from the very start. I don’t know about you but it’s exciting to get something like a sign up from Level One Network that you were not even looking for.

How a Blog Can Turn You into an Industry Authority

How a Blog Can Turn You into an Industry Authority

“When done well, a long-term blogging strategy can build your authority on a given topic. But when done really well, blogging can make you THE authority on your industry.

No matter how much content you publish, you’ll never be viewed as an authority if you keep your industry knowledge to yourself and only use your blog to promote your brand. Authority bloggers know that blogging is about so much more than trying to sell. Here are 4 ways you can use your blog to establish yourself as an industry authority.

    1. Prove Your Knowledge

Without evidence of your expertise, your blog will automatically feel less authoritative. Just about every blog niche on the Internet is full of “gurus” and “ninjas” who claim to be experts in a given topic but don’t have the real world experience to justify their claims. Don’t let this turn you off from calling yourself an expert — by being the real deal, you’re already heads and shoulders above many other blogs.

But don’t shove your credentials down people’s throats. Do make sure to detail your experience and accolades in your About page. You’ll also want to weave your experiences and success stories throughout your blog content. Share case studies, anecdotes and testimonials whenever they’re relevant to the content you’re writing.

Being an expert also means knowing when you don’t have all of the answers. Be sure to back up your content with sources other than yourself. Strengthen your content’s credibility by linking to articles, quoting experts and referencing studies.

    2. Become a Curation Machine

This may seem counter-intuitive, but the thought leadership on your blog doesn’t always need to come from you. In addition to creating original content, curating content relevant to your business can help you become a one-stop destination for industry news and insights. Curating content will force you to read more about your industry, which will in turn help build up your knowledge base.

Here are a few ways to get other people’s content working for you:

*Feature a weekly link round up of the best articles you’ve read about the industry. For example, online marketing blogger Kristi Hines does a post every Friday with links to the best marketing content she has found that week.

*Create “best of” resource lists that are collections of other people’s content.

*Piggy back off of opinion pieces. Write blog posts in response to what other industry influencers are saying.
Just be sure to always give credit where credit is due — never rip off someone’s idea or content without properly linking back to them.

    3. Build Relationships with Influential Blogs

In the offline world, who you know is often more important than what you know. This is also somewhat true online.

Forming relationships with other bloggers is key for getting your blog in front of the right audiences and establishing yourself as part of your industry’s “in crowd.” As such, investing the time into giving back to other bloggers should be a prominent part of your blog strategy.

Here are just a couple of ways to connect with other bloggers in your niche:

*Comment on other industry blogs. Leave valuable comments that add more to the discussion (not just another “great post!” comment). This is often how blogger relationships begin. You can also expect to see some traffic come from the sites you leave comments on.

*Invite influencers in your niche to write for your blog. Not only does this let you take a break from posting, but they’ll most likely urge their readers to read their post on your blog.

*Start writing for other blogs. Pick a handful of blogs that have your target audience, and reach out about guest posting (just make sure to do this and not this when you’re reaching out to other blogs!).

*Link to other blogs in your posts. When you mention another blog or industry personality in your content, reach out to them via social media or email with a link to the published content. They’ll appreciate the mention/link and most likely share the post.

Many of these tactics are mutually beneficial, too. Once a blog’s audience sees they have a relationship with you, they’ll be likely to check out your blog and potentially become new readers.

    4. Get Noticed by the Press

Whether you are looking to get in front of a national or local audience, blogging can position you as a reliable go-to source on all things related to your niche. Press mentions can not only bring in a huge number of leads, but also quickly position you as a leading authority on a topic.

Many times, press mentions have a snowball effect. You will find the same reporters coming back to you again and you’ll also have other reporters approach you once they see your name in a newspaper, magazine or on the news.

When a current event happens related to your field, reporters scout out sources within the industry. Not only does an industry blog help reporters find you through search, but it also builds your credibility in their eyes. It’s possible journalists will find you just through search, but you’ll also want to make it easy for reporters to find you:

*Join Help A Reporter Out (HARO), where you can connect with reporters looking for sources in your industry.

*Make your LinkedIn profile visible to the public and keep your credentials updated.

*Use Twitter to track journalists looking for sources using the #urgharo hashtag.

Keep in mind blog content can also act as resource material, since reporters can easily reference or link back to relevant posts you have published. You’ll want to be sure to regularly update your content so it can remain an evergreen resource.

Of course, the last way to build authority is to always keep your audience at the front of your mind. Being extremely generous with your knowledge is the #1 way to establish trust with your audience, so never worry about “giving away too much” for free.

What are some ways you’ve built your blog’s authority? Let us know in the comments below.”

What Are The Best Blog Sites

    Featured

What Are The Best Blog Sites“Whether you are familiar with the internet or not, chances are that you might have heard about blogs somewhere or the other. So, what is blogging? Well, to start off with a clear definition without getting into the depths of things, a blog is a space where you can voice your opinion and write about anything you want to write about. In simpler terms, it is similar to writing a diary; however, while a diary is quite personal, a blog is open to everyone on the internet. Hence, a blog is a space where you share your ideas and opinions with the world.

While blogging started off as more of a casual platform where people let their creativity out, recent times have showed us that blogging is a much more serious business. With large number of potential viewers making unparalleled exposure on the internet, many leading companies have bought off successful blogs to enhance their own marketing efforts. On the other hand, some companies are also willing to pay successful bloggers a hefty amount to write for them so that they gain exposure. Moreover, businesses such as the Level One Network also teach how individuals can make the best blog sites and how they can make a good amount of income from blogging.

Moreover, in the quest of blogging for money themselves, a lot of prospective bloggers these days ask questions such as “How to make money blogging”. Although, as mentioned earlier about the Level One Network which is a platform where individuals can acquire easy guidelines on how to make money blogging, it is a well known fact that no blogger can hope to be successful without first gaining access to the best blog sites. The best blog sites can not only propel your blog to the next level, but they can also ensure welfare of your blog in terms of readership.”

    What Is Blogging

    Featured

what is blogging“A huge number of people around the world run and manage blogs. Yet, not all of these are successful. Be it a business blog or an individually owned blog, the basics of what makes a quality blog are the same for everyone.

First off, a blog has to contain quality content that people can genuinely find useful. The content should be original and updated regularly as well. Secondly, the more a blogger has expert knowledge on a topic, the higher the chances of the blog being successful. There are hundreds of people out there looking for answers on specific problems. If your blog can provide the right kind of answers, then visitor traffic is almost guaranteed. Lastly, allowing for feedback on your blog is one of the most important aspects of blogging too. These blogging tips are more useful for businesses as they use blogs to connect with their customers. Hence, the higher the amount of feedback is, the higher the number of people you are likely to be connected with.

In addition, to make a blog successful, you do not need to ask questions such as ‘what is blogging’ or ‘what is blogging all about’. It is only the right kind of guidance and knowledge that is required, all of which can easily be acquired by companies such as the Level One Network when learning what is blogging or how to start a blog.”

How Should I Spend Money on My Blog?

How Should I Spend Money on My Blog?“Over the last few years, blogging has gone from “that kinda weird thing that Internet people do” to mainstream. My mother still uses a pre-paid cell phone, has never been on Facebook, and had dial-up Internet up until about a year ago. And she has a blog.
One of the biggest reasons that blogging is so attractive is that it is a way to enjoy your passion that requires little start-up cash. Heck, it costs more to go to a baseball game with your family than it does to start a blog. You can even get started with absolutely no money.
As your traffic starts to grow, however, you might want to spend a little money on your blog. Recently, we posted an infographic featuring bloggers who made millions online. You can bet your britches that these people have invested money into their blogs! Now, yesterday, I wrote a bit about the advantages of paid targeted traffic, but if you’re a beginner, there are other things you should start paying for first.”

How To Use Sliding Underlines On Blogger And WordPress

How To Use Sliding Underlines On Blogger And WordPress“As someone constantly looking at design and ways to add to the design of blogs often it’s the little things that amuse me.This post is definitely an example of that, something as simple as an underline sliding out under a heading or for that matter any text most would see mundane but I see as ‘Cool’.So lets look at the effect, first up it’s a very easy effect to use on your blog no code knowledge is needed.

Basically on any text on your blog you can make a sliding underline appear on hover (when you place the cursor over it).For me this effect works best on headings and links as these are the text visitors to your blog will hover on most.In future posts I may show how to add the effect to all links on your blog or maybe to Labels/Tags (Like the previous Bump effect for Blogger labels we published in 2011).”

Why Too Many Bloggers Are Forgetting About On-Page Optimization

Why Too Many Bloggers Are Forgetting About On-Page Optimization“Too many bloggers try to run before they can walk when it comes to search engine optimization: armed with a couple of tips from Moz.com, they try their hand at everything from guest posting to social media marketing in an attempt to raise their search rankings. While this is all well and good, many bloggers are skipping straight ahead to some of the more complicated aspects of search engine optimization without paying attention to the basics, including the most unloved and unexciting of all SEO techniques: on-page optimization.”

“Since background keyword stuffing and metatags became useless in Google’s eyes, many bloggers have stopped caring about on-page optimization altogether—usually because they feel it isn’t worth the bother. However, they could not be more mistaken. Sure, on-page optimization in itself is not going to have you leapfrogging to the front page for competitive search terms, but it is the foundation upon which the entirety of your SEO strategy rests. Don’t build your house on a foundation of sand, and follow these tips to make sure your website is well optimized for search.”

7 Easy Yet Effective Exercises For Bloggers and Developers“Most full-time bloggers, designers, and developers that I know work crazy hours. Sitting in a chair for hours at a time with no breaks is unhealthy and unproductive. First of all, it slows your metabolism down and promotes body fat storage. Secondly, your brain can only focus for periods of 60 to 90 minutes efficiently. It’s just like a muscle that fatigues. On Agony and Blogging: How to Start Writing and Stop Panicking

On Agony and Blogging: How to Start Writing and Stop Panicking“Online, you have a reader’s attention for only a moment. They’re gone in the blink of an eye. The best blog posts, the ones that thousands of people stop to read, have one thing in common: their opening paragraphs are awesome. I mean truly awesome.”

“And they’re engineered to be that way. The Internet’s top bloggers don’t get lucky. They know that a strong opening that really grips the reader is going to keep the reader reading and, eventually, sharing. Without a great opener, it’s nearly impossible for a post to go viral.”

“But writing a good opening and writing your first sentence aren’t the same things. There’s no rule that says the first sentence you write has to be the first sentence of your post (and if that were a rule, I would recommend breaking it). That said, there’s power to the first thing you write, too.”

Blogging jobs are increasing greatly around the world as people are seeing for the first time just how simple and easy it can be to get up and going. The possibilities and ideas are endless. You can write about any and everything because the internet is your open door to letting the world know about your ideas and opinions. There is no limit to what can be done. This is what the best blog sites online are already doing.

blogging for money - best blog sites

Now you may be extremely new to blogging and want to know what is blogging or what is a blog for that matter. Blog simply means “Web Log” and for the most part they are simply diaries or stories online that may or may not include videos, writings, articles, pictures and more. A blog would usually allow the reader to leave a comment or link about what they have just read creating what is now known as the blogosphere. Blogs can be about any person, place, thing, topic or whatever you choose. Your mind is the only limit when it comes to what you can actually achieve while blogging. Most of all I personally find it fun and exciting. I use blogging as a way of expressing myself and writing my ideas down and sharing them with the world. How much more exciting can it be blogging for money just by writing down the thoughts and ideas that come to your head. Many of the world’s best blog sites offer bloggers, blogging jobs for this exact same reason. Many more are blogging for money by starting their own blog website. But whether you are a seasoned veteran or a newbie it is always good to be a part of a Blogging System that can actually boost your efforts ten times or more then you would normally get from an attempt at blogging for money on your own.

Many people are now seeking a part time job in these economic hard times to make ends meet and many more are already working more than one job currently. Many still have not grasped the simplicity of how blogging for money can replace any part time job and eventually supercede your earning in any full time position. When I first got started a few months ago I worried about what I would write about, if people would like what I write about, how I would go about writing and so much more. You name it and I was worried about it. I came up with every excuse in the book to convince myself that blogging for money was simply not for me and I would be wasting my time. Well now I’m literally sitting here telling you that the best jobs in the world are blogging jobs. Now I must admit that I never thought it would be this easy blogging for money because like many I thought it required some type of special skill or special training. Things I didn’t have at all when I got started. But the truth is I signed up with Level One Network, followed the easy instruction videos they have placed in the my new back office online and made my very first post in the middle of my training session. That very same post sits on page one of Google still to this day for the keyword that I chose to write about. Again, you don’t have to know how to make money blogging, you simply need the desire to start blogging for money. Everything you need to know is taught with simplicity so anyone can do it. You don’t even have to go through trying to figure out the best blog sites or doing any type of comparisons. Level One Network by far give everyone, from newbies to pro bloggers everything they need to start blogging for money today.

Even though there are plenty of blogging jobs available out there I chose to build me a website and cross link it with the Blogging System I use every single day. Blogging for money gives me the freedom to do what I want, when I want and most of all how I want to every day of life now. Whether I’m sitting by the pool enjoying the nice Houston weather, taking a trip to the destination of my choosing or simply at home cooking up my favorite dishes I’m constantly coming up with great ideas to blog about. Blogging for money is one of those blogging jobs that really can’t be described as a job at all.
